Vatican City Pope Francis delivers his Sunday Angelus blessing to the faithful from his studio overlooking St. Peter’s Square on January 29. He called on Israel and the Palestinians to seek peace and cease “the spiral of death.” Afterward Francis embarked on a weeklong trip to Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan, two countries with large Catholic populations that have been scarred by violence and civil unrest.
