Woman Who Owns The 'Nosiest Dog' Gets Hilarious Text From Neighbor

When left to their own devices, most dogs would probably sunbathe, watch the birds up in the trees, or find a tasty stick to chew. But not this Great Pyrenees, who prefers to spend her time staring intently at the neighbors, regardless of what they're doing.

Dog owner Lydia from Atlanta thought her 4-year-old rescue dog was just "minding her own business" in the backyard, but that wasn't the case. In a hilarious TikTok post (@roxypocketpyr), Lydia revealed the unexpected message she received from her neighbor which showed Roxy, the rescue dog, staring over the fence to get a good look at what they were up to.

If only this was a one-time thing, but Lydia (who doesn't wish to disclose her full name) says that Roxy perches on the fence like that most days, telling Newsweek that she takes "the supervision of the yard very seriously." Whether the neighbor is outside eating dinner, doing some work in the yard, or just collecting the mail, Roxy is sure to keep her eyes trained on them just in case.

"Great Pyrenees are often used as livestock guardians, but Roxy doesn't have any livestock of her own in the Atlanta suburbs. Instead, she keeps a very close eye on our neighbors," Lydia said.

"We are lucky to have wonderful neighbors who love Roxy and her quirks. They also have a dog, so we often send funny pictures back and forth of the dogs' antics through the fence."

Great Pyrenees are known for being highly devoted and diligent working dogs, often used to deter wolves and other predators who could steal sheep from farms. While dogs like Roxy aren't put to such demanding work, they're still dutiful guardians who watch over their home and family at all costs.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) wrote that they can reach a height of up to 32 inches at the shoulder, even weighing up to 100 pounds in some cases. They will be happy with moderate daily exercise to stay in good shape, but they generally aren't high energy. The AKC adds that, historically, they always had to preserve their energy for fending off predators, so their inherent desire to protect makes them very calm.

Thankfully for Lydia and the nearby residents, Roxy is more than happy to take on the role of neighborhood watch and keep everything under control.

While Lydia can often see Roxy standing up at the fence from her side of the yard, she thought it was utterly hilarious to see her nosy behavior from the other side, and finally see the glare that her neighbors have to deal with.

"Roxy spends most days perched up on our retaining wall watching the happenings of the neighborhood. Our neighbors have told us that Roxy often watches them eat dinner, and while they do yard work," Lydia told Newsweek.

The neighbors love Roxy though and they can't get enough of her sneaky attempts to spy on them. When they sent the pictures of her to Lydia, they said: "She kills me."

The clip of the "nosiest dog on the block" has delighted many social media users, already gaining more than 639,500 views and 32,300 likes on TikTok in a matter of days. Lydia didn't expect her post to go viral, but after hearing from so many fellow Great Pyrenees owners, she's reached the conclusion that "being nosy is a breed trait," and Roxy is just simply doing her job.

Roxy's antics amused plenty of people, and the TikTok post has already gained over 150 comments at the time of writing. One person wrote: "She's the president of the HOA and demands that your backyard grass be cut or else."

Another TikToker responded: "She's a professional and takes her job seriously."

While another comment read: "she's just listening to your neighbor's gossip she's OK."
