Deion Sanders Gets Into Ridiculous Social Media Fight Involving Son

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are once again back in the headlines, but not for any great reason.

An article posted by The Athletic went into detail about how 53 players from the 2022 team entered the transfer portal once Sanders took over as head coach, with one stating that Sanders was treating players unfairly.

Chase Sowell told Max Olson of The Athletic, "He didn't sugarcoat it... He was telling me, 'You're coming off injury. I don't think you will be one of the guys we need to start this year. We need guys that are going to be ready to play now.'"

Sowell indicated he knew he would be cut, but was a bit surprised it happened so fast after Colorado's spring game. Sowell, like the 52 other players that were cast off, was upset, but one player in particular went after Sanders for his mistreatment of the situation.

Xavier Smith stated, "I'm looking Coach Kelly dead in his eyes. (Sanders) said he felt like I should hit the portal. He didn't want me to waste a year thinking I could earn a spot."

Smith added, "I was actually getting mad, like tears coming to my eyes. Because, bro, you never even tried to get to know me."

The response about Sanders' mistreatment began to emerge online and gain traction, but it wasn't until Sanders' son responded that a social media fight kicked off, one that even the Buffaloes' head coach got into.

Initially, Shedeur Sanders, Deion's son, responded to the article in The Athletic on his X page, stating, "I (don't) even remember him (to be honest). Bro had to be very mid at best."

This ultimately ruffled more feathers, with a random user commenting on another post Deion released.

X user @PreTimeKb stated, "Tell yo son stop act like he the coldest out here then put up a 4-8 season."

The jab at Shedeur led to Deion getting even more involved in the social media fight, as he quoted the above response.

Deion fired back with, "He will be a top 5 pick. Where yo son going ? Lololol I got time today. Lololol."

The response was to this random person on X, but things began to get even worse. Current Buffaloes wide receiver Kaleb Mathis responded to Shedeur's X post (in a now-deleted post), agreeing that Smith was not a great player. This prompted a response from Austin Peay cornerback Jaheim Ward, who went after Mathis.

Ward stated, "Bruh you had 38 yards last year stop trying to down play somebody."

The social media response from Ward led to a Buffaloes podcast host that goes by the name of Dalvin Truth to stick up for Mathis.

Dalvin screenshotted Ward's stats on ESPN and said, "Man go take a seat."

The back and forth led to Deion once again jumping back into the social media fight. Deion quoted the above response from @dalvinthetruth saying, "Lawd Jesus."

The final response came from Ward again, who went back after the Sanders family, this time taking aim at Shilo Sanders, a Colorado cornerback.

Ward's response is, "Damm it's crazy I got more pass deflections (than) your son 🤡."

This social media fight will likely calm down in the coming days, but it's not a great look for Deion to be engaging in this activity, especially regarding former players. He is a head coach and the role model that is supposed to calm things down, not rile things up. We'll see if Deion turns the negative press back into focusing on his football program, and the players that will be working for their spots on the 2024 team.
