Shohei Ohtani Game Used Dodgers Jersey Fetching Insane Price in Auction

The MLB and sports world was rocked when former Los Angeles Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani announced that he would be signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ohtani dropped the bombshell in Dec. 2023, and his stardom has only risen even further since then.

News surrounding Ohtani did take a bizarre turn when his former interpreter Ippei Mizuhara was initially accused of stealing around $4.5 million from the Dodgers superstar. After a lengthy investigation by both the MLB and authorities, that number rose to a staggering $16 million in stolen funds.

Despite many believing that Ohtani was somehow involved in the illegal betting, the investigation concluded that the Dodgers' two-way player was not involved at all. The entire ordeal could have derailed his season, but Ohtani remains one of the hottest hitters in the league.

Ohtani currently has a .336 batting average with seven home runs, 19 RBIs, and a 1.017 OPS. MLB even ranked him number two on the hitter power rankings.

Everyone assumed that Ohtani would continue his dominance after signing with the Dodgers, but it appears he might surpass what he was able to do with the Angels. He is clearly a superstar and generational talent, and everyone is attempting to get any kind of merchandise that comes from his first season with the Dodgers.

The official Dodgers auction house has a collection of game-used jerseys, with one being the jersey Ohtani wore when the Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres on April 13. The price for the jersey has gone up significantly when it opened on April 29. As it stands right now, the current bid stands at $42,500.

The auction house has an image of the jersey. It appears to be hanging up in the Dodgers locker room and is caked with what looks like dirt from the field.

The good news is the auction continues until May 8. The bid might stand at $42,500, but it can be beaten by a bid of $43,000. The auction house has determined that the big increments must be in the amount of $500.

Ohtani has only begun his career with the Dodgers this year, and the value of merchandise from the superstar is only going to climb in price in the coming years. While this jersey currently holds a price tag of $43,000 to acquire, other items (like his first home run ball) are going to run for much higher prices in the future. Ohtani has truly reached full stardom in his career.
