Why Moveworks Ranked Among Newsweek's Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces in 2023

Made up of "Movesters" who live and breathe innovation, Moveworks is a generative AI copilot that supports employees at both startups and larger enterprises through automation. It aims to boost productivity in the workplace by helping employees ask questions and providing them with automated responses, for example. While the company is headquartered in Mountain View, California, there are over 500 Movesters who work remotely or in-person at one of the office locations in Mountain View, Toronto, Austin, London, or Bengaluru.

Moveworks earned a spot on Newsweek's 2023 list of America's 100 Most Loved Workplaces. To compile the list, Newsweek partnered with Best Practice Institute (BPI) to survey more than 2 million employees at 450 U.S. companies ranging in size from 50 employees to more than 10,000. The Top 100 among them were chosen based on a variety of factors that BPI's research revealed were most important to employee satisfaction. These included collaboration and teamwork, opportunities for advancement, and good citizenship.

No matter where a Movester is based, they can enjoy a highly-collaborative, high-performing culture that fosters creativity. "We attract employees who want to solve unique and interesting problems that haven't been solved before," explains Dana Palmer, director, HR business partner at Moveworks. The company encourages remote employees to visit a nearby office, collaborate in-person and get inspired by an innovative, cutting-edge space.

Every Friday, Moveworks hosts "Friday Sync," which gives all employees the chance to come together remotely or in person and highlight sales and engineering wins, customer challenges, and other important company happenings. It's a highly engaging meeting that closes with a few remarks from the founders to get everyone excited about the weekend and ready for a productive week ahead.

In addition to unlimited PTO, fully subsidized employee health benefits, 401(k), and fully paid parental leave, Moveworks offers annual professional development stipends. Employees can use the stipend on conferences, books, or anything else that may help them excel in their careers. It's not uncommon for a Movester to follow their passion and take on new opportunities and responsibilities as the business grows. In fact, Moveworks' interns have become some of the company's highest performing employees.

The company also places a great deal of emphasis on wellness. There's a wellness Slack channel that anyone can join to learn about and participate in wellness challenges, such as the hydration challenge where employees focus on drinking enough water and post pictures of their favorite water bottles. Another example is the gratitude challenge, which encourages employees to share what they're grateful for in their personal and professional lives.

Bhavin Shah, Vaibhav Nivargi, Varun Singh, and Jiang Chen, the founders of Moveworks, are heavily involved in the company's day-to-day activities. They share their entrepreneurial spirit and vision at the New Movester Orientation, which the company refers to as NEMO. New employees get the chance to connect with the founders and learn about the company's history. "The founders look forward to getting to know the next generation of Movesters that have the potential to change the company in many ways," said Palmer.

Movesters in every department, whether it's sales, engineering, or customer service, aren't afraid to try new things or learn by failing. "We strive to get better and grow and develop with technology and people," notes Palmer. When asked to sum up the culture of Moveworks in one sentence, Palmer explained that it's the "true combination of creative interests and passions wanting to work on challenging things that create impact and value day in and day out."
