Kendrick Lamar Goes Viral for Mistaking Joel Osteen for Haley Joel Osment on New Drake Diss Track

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors

Kendrick Lamar's latest Drake diss track was overshadowed by one hilarious mistake: he confused Haley Joel Osment with Joel Osteen.

Lamar dropped "Euphoria" on Tuesday, April 30, taking aim at the "One Dance" artist throughout the entire song, including a blatant name-drop and the line, "Somebody had told me that you got a ring, on God, I'm ready to double the wage / I rather do that, than let a Canadian n**** make Pac turn in his grave," a clear reference to Drake's Canadian roots and utilizing Tupac's voice on Drake's most recent Lamar diss track, "Taylor Made Freestyle."

While "Euphoria" made headlines on Tuesday for its scathing lyrics and no-holds barred response to Drake's two most recent tunes, it went viral on social media for Lamar's mix-up of Osment and Osteen.

"Am I battlin' ghost or AI? N**** feelin' like Joel [Haley] Osteen / Funny, he was in a film called A.I. / And my sixth sense tellin' me to off him," Lamar raps on the track, referencing the televangelist but clearly confusing him with Osment, who did in fact star in A.I. and The Sixth Sense.

After the song's release, "Haley Joel Osment" immediately began trending on X (formerly known as Twitter).

"Incredible diss work from Kendrick but unfortunately he mistook Haley Joel Osment for Joel Osteen so now he needs to chime in on the beef," one user wrote.

"Kendrick confusing Haley Joel Osment with Joel Osteen is so f****** funny, he didn't even Google s***, just walked into the booth mad as hell lmaooo," another fan tweeted.

"I'm sorry but I cannot stop laughing at Kendrick mixing up AI/Sixth Sense child actor Haley Joel Osment and televangelist grifter Joel Osteen," a third person penned.

"Kendrick ain't got to check iMDB," wrote another X user.

While Drake and Lamar have been feuding for years, it's their latest back-and-forth that has now got multiple celebrities in the fold — including Taylor Swift, who Drake referenced on "Taylor Made Freestyle."

"But now we gotta wait a f****** week 'cause Taylor Swift is your new Top," he rapped on the April 19 track, referring to Swift's album drop that same day. (Lamar and Swift famously collaborated on the remix of her hit, "Bad Blood.")

"And if you 'bout to drop, she gotta approve / This girl really 'bout to make you act like you not in a feud," Drake spit in the lyrics.
