Melania Trump Laughs at Donald During Barron's Graduation

Former First Lady Melania Trump was seen laughing at her husband during their son Barron's graduation on Friday afternoon.

In a photo captured on Friday, former President Donald Trump can be seen standing up while in the crowd at Barron's high school graduation ceremony. Next to Trump is his wife, Melania, and in the photo she appears to be laughing at her husband, while many others in the crowd are smiling, laughing and cheering.

The former president attended his son's graduation on Friday from the Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida.

"Going to Barron's High School Graduation. Great student, wonderful boy! Very exciting!!!" Trump wrote in a post to his social media platform Truth Social.

Barron Trump is the only son the former president shares with Melania and the youngest of Trump's children.

Trump was able to attend his son's graduation this week despite having to be in New York City for his ongoing criminal trial for alleged hush money payments made to former adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016. Trump has continued to deny any wrongdoing in the case, repeatedly calling it politically motivated.

Last month, New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the hush money case, announced that the former president would be allowed to attend his son's graduation.

"Trump will be allowed to attend Barron's graduation on May 17, Merchan rules. He says that with the trial moving per schedule, it will 'not be a problem' for Trump to attend his son's high school graduation," Newsweek's Katherine Fung reported last month.

In a September 2023 interview with journalist Megyn Kelly, Trump said Barron was "thinking about" attending The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, his alma mater, adding that Barron Trump is a "great student" and athlete.

During a speech earlier this month, Trump further said that his son was looking at colleges and said, "Right now, he's doing a great job. He has great marks."

"He's going to be going to college soon. And we're looking at some colleges that are different [than] they were two months ago," Trump said during the NFT event on May 9.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Barron Trump was invited to serve as a delegate for the Republican National Convention in July alongside other members of the family. However, Melania Trump's office issued a statement to ABC News saying "While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments."

Newsweek reached out to Trump's spokesperson via email for comment.
