Ankara, Turkey—Emergency workers examine the site of an explosion on March 13. At least 37 people were killed and 125 wounded in a car bombing in the Turkish capital, the second such attack in under a month. Though no group immediately claimed responsibility, Turkey quickly launched airstrikes against Kurdish militants in northern Iraq, blaming the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, for the attack. Security officials told Reuters one of two suspected attackers was a woman from the group, which has been fighting for Kurdish autonomy for three decades.
