Woman Has Three Gender Reveals, So You Can Bet What Happens Next

Finding out the gender of a baby is an exciting time and a great way to prepare for its arrival. But what happens if the ultrasound is wrong?

While the likelihood of this happening is extremely low, it does occur, and the chances of an error with ultrasound are up to 5 percent, according to maternity website The Bump.

One couple recently shared a video montage showcasing two gender reveals when they thought they were having a girl. That was followed by an ultrasound that said otherwise.

Funnily enough, mom-to-be Aylin Rósales already had a sneaking suspicion about her baby's gender. She wrote in the caption: "From the moment I knew I was pregnant I had a feeling we were having a baby boy, I was so happy either way, but this made me realize that I can truly trust my intuition."

So far, the TikTok video posted by @garciaaylin17 has received 1.3 million views.

The video starts with a clip from the Southern California couple's baby shower. They each have a confetti canister in their hands, and the text states: "When EVERYONE thought we found out the gender of our baby." This is followed by a video of the couple hosting their own gender reveal.

They can be seen covering each other's eyes as they both use a glass to cut through a white cake. They then cheer and hug each other when they discover it's a girl.

The viral video, which has over 121,000 likes, ends with a clip of Rósales getting an ultrasound. The sonographer can be heard saying it's a boy on multiple occasions while the couple giggle and gasp. She reassures them: "It is a big old boy."

Rósales wrote in the caption: "This baby has us going through an emotional rollercoaster." She added: "I am [officially] and for sure this time...a boy mom."

So far, the video has received over 400 comments, and other women have shared their stories.

One user wrote: "I was told I was having a boy, had [EVERYTHING] ready for a BOY, 2 weeks before I was due I was told she was in fact a GIRL."

Another user said: "This happened to me reverse they said girl at 16wk scan and it was really a boy at 20 [week] scan lol."

A third wrote: "I've got trust issues I could never get gender confirmation just from the scan I've always had the blood work done."

According to The Bump, another option for a gender reveal is noninvasive prenatal testing, a blood test performed in the first trimester (after week 10) to detect chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus, such as Down syndrome, trisomy 18 and trisomy 13.

Also known as cell-free DNA testing, it examines fragments of fetal DNA released from the placenta into the mother's bloodstream. While its primary purpose is to identify chromosomal abnormalities, it can also determine the baby's sex.
