No one expects to be at a store on Christmas Day, but there are many reasons why you might want to take a quick grocery run on the holiday.
Maybe you forgot a cherished Christmas meal ingredient or perhaps you have a sudden inspiration for that perfect gift you need under the tree.
Newsweek compiled a full list of the stores open and closed on Christmas Day, so you'll be covered if you need anything last minute.
Stores Open on Christmas Day
While most grocery stores close their doors on Christmas Day, some Safeway locations will remain open. You should contact your local shop and verify the hours before the holiday.
Many other convenience stores and gas stations remain open throughout the holiday as well, according to Reader's Digest.
This includes 7-Eleven, of which most stores will remain open 24 hours, alongside Circle K's. Sheetz locations also stay open on Christmas Day, although there could be slightly reduced hours.
Those who need to make last-minute stops for medication, or even gifts and wrapping material, can head to CVS, Rite Aid or Walgreens.
All three drug stores remain open on Christmas Day, but hours can vary based on location and reduced schedules.
Those in need of a caffeine fix will also be in luck because Starbucks keeps select locations open on the holiday. You should check with your local store to make sure. Most Dunkin' and Caribou Coffee stores will serve guests on Christmas Day as well.
If your plans for Christmas dinner fall through, you can also head to a range of restaurants that remain open on the holiday.
Denny's will keep diners open 24/7. IHOP also plans to keep most of its stores open for those craving a pancake on Christmas morning.
Waffle House will also be serving breakfast all day.
For a more elegant dinner, you can dine at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, which also keeps its restaurants open on Christmas Day.
Stores That Are Closed on Christmas Day
Unfortunately for shoppers, many retailers give the holiday off to all workers.
That includes retail giant Walmart, which closes all locations throughout Christmas Day. However, stores remain open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Kroger will also shut its doors on Christmas Day after offering regular hours on Christmas Eve.
Target also joins the list of stores you should not expect to visit on the holiday, as all locations are set to close for the holiday.
Costco also closes its doors on Christmas Day. But its website says stores should remain open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Trader Joe's will also be closed on Christmas Day, with stores still operating until 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Whole Foods also takes the day fully off for the Christmas Day holiday, with limited hours on Christmas Eve.
