Watch Kid Cudi Break His Foot by Jumping Off Coachella Stage

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors

Kid Cudi's Coachella set unexpectedly ended with a broken bone — and the "crazy" moment was recorded by fans.

While performing his feature on David Guetta's "Memories" at the music festival in Indio, California, on Sunday, April 21, Cudi jumped off the stage, landing on one foot as his other leg slid forward. The "Day 'n' Nite" artist was immediately surrounded by medics and security before using two guards to hold himself up as he hobbled away from the stage on one leg.

Cudi appeared to grimace in pain as he was essentially carried out of the show past the crowd. The audience shouted their well wishes, including one concert-goer who yelled, "Cudi, we love you!"

The "Pursuit of Happiness" rapper later took to social media to provide fans with an update on the situation and thank them for their support.

"Hey guys, so I broke my foot today at the show. 🤦🏾‍♂️ just leavin the hospital. Never broken a bone before so this is all a bit crazy," Cudi tweeted on Sunday. "I wanna thank u all for ur concerns and well wishes!! I love yall man. I heard yall still ragin when I was offstage. Made me smile big."

The next day, Cudi shared a video about what went down, clearly in good spirits despite the pain.

"S*** got real yesterday … this is what happens when a 40-year-old man tries to prance around offstage like he's 26, like he used to do back in the day," he laughed in the clip, which he shared via X (formerly known as Twitter), on Monday, April 22.

Cudi explained that he "broke something" in his heel, which he called a "major setback." Though he was in "a lot of pain" on Sunday, he is a "little sore" today and has his foot in a temporary cast before getting a permanent one.

However, he has no plans to cancel or postpone his upcoming Insane: Engage the Rage World Tour, which kicks off in Austin, Texas, in late June.

"I'm hoping that I'll be healed up in time for tour. That's the plan. I don't want to let you guys down," he said. "So yeah, thats what we're aiming for. Not canceling anything just yet, just gonna wait and see how things go."

Cudi, beloved for his optimistic nature and love for his fans, added: "But don't worry. Imma bounce back. Aight? I love y'all. Engage the rage. But not at 40," he laughed.
