Baby Girl Dubbed 'Einstein' for Her Epic Static Hair

A baby with static hair has been compared to the one and only Albert Einstein.

Nine million people have watched the viral TikTok video of 13-week-old Arla Lily Evans, who has an impressive mane of hair.

The video was posted by her mom Aliyah Lewis-Martinson, 20, who uses the handle @aliyahlewisxx.

The popular video has racked up more than 838,000 likes and almost 5,000 comments. Many are comparing Arla to Einstein, and some even say she doesn't look real.

Globally, Einstein, the German-born theoretical physicist, was best known for his brains but in this case, he is remembered for his hair.

According to BBC Newsround, Einstein's "iconic frizzy hairdo" was due to "a really rare condition called 'uncombable hair syndrome'."

Aliyah told Newsweek: "Arla was born with a lot of dark hair but it didn't start standing up until her first bath! We have no idea where it has come from."

"I have no idea where this hair has come from because nobody in my family or her dad's family has it."

An online resource called Medline Plus revealed that "uncombable hair syndrome is a condition that is characterized by dry, frizzy hair that cannot be combed flat. This condition develops in childhood, often between infancy and age 3, but can appear as late as age 12. Affected children have light-colored hair, described as blond or silvery with a glistening sheen."

Aliyah told Newsweek she brushes her daughter's hair twice a day, adding: "Arla has nice and soft hair. She doesn't need conditioner so we just shampoo it in the bath.

"Her hair never stays down even when brushed!"

The stay-at-home mom also confirmed the old wives' tale is true as she suffered from heartburn whilst pregnant. This has been scientifically proven to be linked to a hairy baby. Researchers at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore asked 64 pregnant women to rank the severity of their heartburn during pregnancy. The results found that 78 percent of women reported some degree of heartburn. The simple linear relationship between heartburn severity and hair volume was significant.

What Do the Comments Say?

More than 4,700 TikTokers have commented on the video and many have complimented the baby's hair. One user said: "OMGGGG SHE IS SO CUTEEEEEE. This is what I want my baby to look like omg I am obsessed."

Speaking from experience, another mom wrote: "Love it my daughter's hair used to be standing up like a Mohawk and now she has beautiful curly hair."

While comments like "Baby Einstein, soo cute" seem to be popular throughout the mom's page, another popular theme seems to be asking if Arla is a doll or real. One user said: "I thought that the baby was a doll" and others have asked, "Is she real?"

"Oh my goodness, I thought that was a doll literally cuteness alert," wrote another.
