Video Showing How Dachshund Is Definitely Not 'Normal' Goes Viral

A viral TikTok video that sheds light on the kooky side of one dog breed has delighted viewers across the internet.

The video, which has been viewed more than 400,000 times since it was first shared to the social media platform on Sunday by TikTok user @ottothedachsy, captured Otto the dachshund chasing after a ball while inside a flipped over daybed.

The video's caption reads: "Here's another video. Dachshunds definitely aren't normal. But wouldn't have it any other way."

Viewers were treated to a hilarious clip of the wiener dog, that could not be seen at all, moving the lopsided daybed across a floor with little to no coordination. Towards the end of the clip, Otto could be seen attempting to claw his way out of the upside down bed. While it hadn't been filmed, it can be assumed that the dog's owner eventually helped him out of his predicament.

Newsweek reached out to @ottothedaschy via TikTok for comment.

The sausage dog and his owner live in the United Kingdom. The pair have amassed over 30,000 followers on TikTok where Otto's owner spoils his digital audience with amusing photos and videos that underline his pup's cheeky nature. According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), this isn't uncommon in dogs of the breed.

On its website, the AKC states that dachshunds are highly intelligent companions who, while strong-willed and smart, can on the flipside be more difficult to train than easier-going breeds such as golden retrievers. Their strong personalities can make them a handful to deal with, but the breed can provide their owners with plenty of love and affection.

"Dachshunds were bred to be an independent hunter of dangerous prey," the AKC says. "They can be brave to the point of rashness, and a bit stubborn, but their endearing nature and unique look has won millions of hearts the world over."
