The floor literally fell from beneath dancers' feet at a party on Saturday night near Clemson University in South Carolina, with dozens requiring hospital treatment and police still investigating the cause.

The party was taking place at a private clubhouse, which leased the space out, on the first floor of an apartment building in the Woodlands of Clemson, a neighborhood near the university. The crowded dance-floor collapsed into the basement just after midnight, at about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to ABC News.

Several of those present at the party captured the moment on their mobile phones as scores of people fell through the floor prompting panicked scenes.

"Yo, what the fuck! The floor broke. The floor broke," a woman can be heard saying in one of the videos, uploaded to Twitter, as screams can be heard around her.

"By the time I had put one foot out the door, I felt that something was weird and that's when everyone just collapsed and the guy behind me disappeared," Raven Guerra, a 20-year-old who was present, told Good Morning America, according to ABC News. "Everyone was on the floor and people were screaming and there was wood sticking up from the floorboards."

"Turning around and seeing a bunch of people who used to be on the second floor now on the basement was really surreal and people were crying. It was a lot to take in," Guerra added.

Another student who attended the party named Larissa Stone described the jubilant scenes and jumping crowd moments before the floor caved in.

"The beat was about to drop and literally the whole floor collapsed," Stone told the Independent Mail. "It happened so quickly."

"I stood up, and everyone was trying to climb out," she said. "People are under other people. People are hurt. People are bleeding. I had blood on my sneakers. It was really bad."

Police confirmed that, while roughly thirty people were treated at hospital, none of the injuries were life-threatening, according to Buzzfeed News.

University officials learned of the incident on Sunday morning and sent representatives to visit the victims in hospital.

"We're continuing to gather information, and are encouraged by the initial reports of no life-threatening injuries," Clemson Univesity tweeted on Sunday.
