Hearts Melt as Cat Nobody Wanted Over 'Broken Ears' Snuggles With New Owner

It might be hard to believe that Vinnie, the cat, once struggled to find a forever home based on her appearance. But it's clear the feline hasn't let her past affect the present as she is oozing with love.

Ester Netten has shared a heartwarming video that has racked up 2.2 million views on TikTok.

The footage taken one week after adoption shows Netten and her rescue cat getting into bed and snuggling.

The video captioned: "Nobody wanted her because of her broken ears..:( she is the cutest," has received 323,000 likes.

Cat ears are not only used for hearing but cats can communicate with them too. An owner can tell a lot by the position of their pet's ears, according to Hill's Pet Nutrition. The pet food company says a happy and relaxed cat's ears may be facing forward in a neutral position.

When a cat's ears are straight up and forward then they may be feeling on edge and they are using their ears to find out what is going on around them. This position may be paired with twitching which might indicate the cat is ready to attack.

If the feline's ears are flattened against their head then this means they are feeling scared or nervous. If this changes to low and flat then this may lead to aggressive behavior.

When a cat is feeling unwell, there ears are likely to be low down and facing out.

Netten will be unable to determine her cat's mood as the outer ear appears to be missing. It isn't clear how the cat's ears were damaged.

In the comments, Netten confirmed her pet "can hear a little less," than other cats.

Vinnie's differences haven't held her back and she has become quite popular online. TikTok users are obsessed with the pair from Rotterdam, Netherlands, and many have expressed their love for the feline's ears in the comment section.

One user said: "[Her] ears are perfect, it's people that are broken."

"I think she was just waiting for you. Your bond looks meant to be," said another user.

Another said: "I didn't even notice her ears. She's perfect!"

"The ears give her character," praised another user.

Vinnie isn't the only feline without ears. Newsweek has previously shared an article about a cat called Mochi who was forced to have her ears and tail amputated due to a rare illness.

Newsweek reached out to @vinnietherescuecat for comment. We could not verify the details of the case.
