Tributes Pour In for Foo Fighters Drummer Taylor Hawkins

Shocked fans and celebrities have been paying tribute to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins after being left reeling from his sudden death at the age of 50.

An outpouring of grief and love rippled across social media after news broke that the musician had been found dead in a hotel in Colombia on Friday.

Guns N' Roses legend Slash tweeted: "Devastated by the loss of our friend #TaylorHawkins I've no words to express all the feelings I have about his passing. But my heart goes out to his family. & his band & friends. RIP Taylor."

Former Full House actor John Stamos—himself a keen drummer—shared a poignant message, revealing Hawkins' final text to him actually referenced death.

Stamos tweeted: "This was Taylor Hawkins' last text to me: 'Ya We've yet to fully have a hang—Got a put that sh*t together before we die' Wise words from my friend—put that sh*t together! I'm so f***ing sad. Another one gone too soon."

Coldplay's Chris Martin dedicated a moving performance of his hit "Everglow" to Hawkins on Friday night, shortly after hearing about the drummer's sudden death, a video posted on social media showed.

During a concert in Monterrey, Mexico, the star appeared to wipe away a tear after telling the crowd: "We heard that a friend of ours in a great, great band called the Foo Fighters has passed away.

"We weren't sure whether to talk about it in this concert but feel like we have to because they're our friends and we care about them and we feel like we should send love to the Foo Fighters.

"We all knew Taylor, their drummer, who was a beautiful, beautiful man, and so we're going to play this song for The Foo Fighters and for him—this is called Everglow.

"I'm sorry I'm not talking about this very well. I'm sorry. It's very new."

Singer Ozzy Osbourne said: "@TaylorHawkins was truly a great person and an amazing musician. My heart, my love and my condolences go out to his wife, his children, his family, his band and his fans. See you on the other side—Ozzy."

Several bands also tweeted their condolences as the tributes flooded in.

The Smashing Pumpkins posted a photograph of the drummer, with the words: "Taylor Hawkins 1972-2022. Our deepest sympathies to Taylor's family, his fans, and of course his band."

While Nickelback tweeted: "In utter disbelief at the news of Taylor Hawkins. Our deepest condolences to his family, his bandmates, his team, his friends and everyone that was ever touched by the music he created with @foofighters @Alanis and so many others. This is so incredibly sad."

British rocker Liam Gallagher, of Oasis, wrote: "Absolutely devastated to hear the sad news about Taylor Hawkins my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends RIP brother LG x."

American drummer Questlove—real name Ahmir Khalib Thompson—told his 3.3 million followers: "I'm so sad about this man. coolest dude ever. god bless & comfort his family, his bandmates, his friends & all his loved ones. Taylor Hawkins. Rest In Beats. #TaylorHawkins."

Guitarist Tom Morello tweeted a photo of himself with Hawkins and lead singer of Jane's Addiction, Perry Farrell, with the words: God bless you Taylor Hawkins. I loved your spirit and your unstoppable rock power. Rest In Peace my friend."

Hawkins had been in Bogota, Colombia, where the band was due to play at a festival as part of a tour in South America.

Remaining bandmates - Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee—released a statement saying the group was "devastated by the untimely loss" and requested privacy for Hawkins' family.
