Tears as Man Who's Never Had a Pet Bonds With New Puppy—'Melts My Heart'

A woman from Chicago shared what her boyfriend's relationship with his first-ever pup looks like on social media, and the internet can't stop crying at how sweet they are around each other.

The viral post shared on TikTok in March, under the username otisthegolden2, shows a series of wholesome shared experiences between the golden retriever puppy, Otis, and the first-time dog owner throughout several months.

At the beginning of the clip, a very tiny Otis can be seen warming up to his new owner, who had never owned a pet before in his life, and by the end of the clip they are snuggling and playing like best friends.

"POV: you get a puppy with your boyfriend who has never had an animal before," says the post's caption, followed by: "Watching these two together melts my heart."

Having a dog is not just an endless source of fun and love, it's also great for your physical and mental health.

According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), dogs help combat loneliness. In fact, a recent survey found that over 85 percent of owners feel less lonely when they spend time with their pups.

They help with stress, any emotional crisis, and with making friends too, since they provide a great way of meeting people.

On a physical level, dogs are also great for your heart! The AKC explains that according to a review of studies published between 1950 and 2019, dog owners have a lower risk of death.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 3.9 million views and 571,000 likes on the platform.

One user, user9472569127298, commented: "He will never be the same again now that he has his first pet. So cute."

Thor_TheGolden23 said: "My dad has also never had a pet before, he's learning so much from mom! And giving me so many fruits and veggies when he eats them."

Lore wrote: "The way he thought he was being filmed and smiled to the camera only to be shadowed by the real star of the show, the doggo."
