Taylor Swift Fans Are Going Absolutely Wild for Her Huge Eras Tour Change-Up at Paris Concert

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors

Taylor Swift changed up the setlist, costumes and more on the opening night of the European leg of the Eras Tour — and fans are literally (and virtually!) screaming.

As fans have suspected ever since the April release of her new album The Tortured Poets Department, Swift incorporated the new record into her Thursday, May 9 show in Paris — adding the TTPD era to the big screen at the opening of the show with visuals of gray to represent the record. She also debuted seven songs from the album, performing them live for the first time ever: adding "But Daddy I Love Him," "So High School," "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?," "Down Bad," "Fortnight," "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," and "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" to the set.

With the TTPD era added to the show, Swift also debuted a brand-new costume to represent the new record: a white dress covered lyrics from the album.

In fact, Swift sported multiple new costumes throughout the night, including a cherry red bodysuit for the Lover portion of the show, a black and gold fringe dress for "Fearless," a new T-shirt for Red (that this time says "This is not Taylor's Version").

In order to fit in the new TTPD songs to the concert, the "Clara Bow" artist also had to cut several tracks off the set list: "The Archer" (off Lover) "Long Live" (from Speak Now), "The 1," The Last Great American Dynasty" (Folklore) and "Tolerate It" and "Tis the Damn Season" (Evermore).

Fans, understandably, lost their minds over the big changes — and the concert isn't even over yet.

"WHY IS TAYLOR MAKING SO MANY CHANGES TO THE ERAS TOUR SETLIST AND OUTFITS IM SO F****** SCARED RIGHT NOW YOU SHUT UP," one fan wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter) in all-caps.

"ttpd added to the intro, new lover bodysuit, new 'the man' blazer, the archer cut from the setlist, new fearless dress, red era moved on the setlist, new '22' shirt (this is NOT taylor's version), oh it's ON #ParisTSTheErasTour," another person tweeted.

"As a swiftie whose favorite song is "The Archer", i will not be emotionally available for a long time. goodbye. #ParisTSTheErasTour," commented a third user.

"With all these changes, Taylor should rename it the Eras Tour (Europe's Version) 🤣 #TSTheErasTourParis #ParisTSTheErasTour," a fourth person joked.

Another fan used the viral photo of Swift talking to Selena Gomez at the Golden Globes earlier this year to express what they believed to be behind the "Maroon" singer's plan.

"so get this!! I'm gonna cut 'The Archer' from the Lover set, change all of my outfits, wear an old Fearless outfit that transports everyone back to 2009. Also going to change the order of the eras, and cause mass chaos. SURPRISE," they tweeted.
