Swift Coverage at Super Bowl: Chads Mad Before Halftime

Whether Taylor Swift would be in attendance at the Super Bowl LVIII has been a huge talking point online—and now that she's there, some people are complaining that she's being shown too much on-screen

Swift attended Sunday's game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers to support her boyfriend—Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce—who will try to win his third Super Bowl ring.

Swift hopped on a flight after her concert on Saturday in Tokyo to arrive in Las Vegas in time to watch the game, thanks to the magic of time zones.

Sunday's game will be the 12th appearance by Swift at a Chiefs game this season and people on X, formerly Twitter, have been expressing their annoyance at the camera panning to her.

Newsweek contacted Swift's publicist via email for comment Sunday.

"I'm gonna stop watching the Super Bowl if I see Taylor Swift one more time," one person wrote.

"Okay now I am annoyed. It's not her fault and she is amazing but we did not need the cameras panning to Taylor Swift during America the beautiful. Ridiculous. They're using this poor girl while also doing it to an extent that people are hating her," said another.

"This is a football game not a Taylor Swift concert," someone else commented.

"The Super Bowl doesn't need to be about Taylor swift," a fourth person said.

A fifth added: "I am utterly sick of Taylor swift."

However, not everyone is upset by Swift's inclusion in the game. Many people took to X to explain that they were only watching the Super Bowl to catch sight of her.

"Not going to lie but Taylor Swift is the only reason why I'm watching!" one social media user wrote alongside a cry-laughing emoji.

"if i see another person who's mad about taylor swift just existing at a sport ball game im going to black out and rage will overtake my entire body i am at MY LIMIT," someone else posted.

"i wish i understood anything that was going on right now al these tiny men on my screen running at each other i'm just here to see taylor swift be happy and smile," said another.

A fourth added: "I wish they showed Taylor Swift more."

Swift is used to receiving flack from football fans for being shown during games. Whenever Swift attends one of Travis Kelce's games with the Kansas City Chiefs, her presence instantly becomes a massive story.

Swift, the 2023 Person of the Year, previously spoke to Time about her appearance at games angering viewers. "I'm just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I'm being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads," she said.

After all, as Swift noted, she has very little sense of when the cameras focus on her.

"I don't know how they know what suite I'm in," she told Time. "There's a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don't know where it is, and you have no idea when then [sic] camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don't know if I'm being shown 17 times or once."

While not every football fan is happy with her attendance at games, Kelce previously confirmed that he likes playing in front of her. In a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, the tight end said the couple enjoys supporting each other.

"I love it when Taylor comes and supports me and enjoys the game with the fam and friends," he said. "It's been nothing but a wonderful year, man."
