Airline's Sweet Gift For Fans Flying to Taylor Swift Concert

One airline jetting in Swifties—Taylor Swift's fans—to her concerts in Singapore has given its passengers cute gifts.

Phillipines Airlines has been handing out "friendship bracelets" to those traveling to one of Swift's six shows in Singapore as part of her record-breaking Eras World Tour.

Swifties have become known for exchanging the bespoke bracelets at her concerts and they usually feature the giver's name or other information.

A Swift fan account shared a photo of some people showing off their bracelets given to them by the airline. They feature the usual trinkets such as white beads and flowers, but also the words "Fly Pal (Phillipines Airlines)."

"@flyPAL is giving FREE Friendship Bracelets to passengers who are flying to Singapore! #SingaporeTSTheErasTour," the fan account posted to X, formerly Twitter.

Fans loved the gesture, with many tagging other Asian airlines in the replies telling them to "up your game."

"OMG this is so cool 😍," wrote one person.

Swift will begin her Singapore run of shows on Friday, the only Southeast Asian city she is performing in, much to the chagrin of Singapore's neighbors.

In February, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin accused the Singapore government of offering to pay Swift around $3 million per show if she promised to only perform in the city state and nowhere else in the region.

"If I had known this, I would have brought the shows to Thailand," Srettha said at a business forum in Bangkok.

Singapore's tourism and youth ministries only confirmed that the tourism board "supported the event through a grant," in a joint-statement to Time.

It would make sense for governments to scramble to get Swift to their cities thanks the proven effects of "Taylornomics" or the "TSwiftLift."

In 2023, the Federal Reserve credited the singer with single-handedly helping to lift the economy, mainly thanks her ongoing Eras tour, which is already the highest grossing live music tour of all time.

Also, the impact of her shows on local economies is astonishing.

The income generated through spending by fans on things like hotel rooms, food and transport while attending one of her shows is averaged to be $1,300 per person. In total, the economic boon generated by the tour is expected to be around $5 billion in the U.S. alone, a figure that matches the combined gross domestic products of 50 countries, according to a survey by QuestionPro.
