Sweet Samoyed Dog Is Desperate to Watch Sunset: 'So Precious'

An Instagram video of a dog owner lifting her Samoyed up so that he'll be able to catch a glimpse of a sunset over a barrier has tugged at heartstrings across the internet.

The viral video, which has been viewed more than 3.5 million times since it was first shared to Instagram by @life.with.a.landcloud on January 28, captured the sweet moment and played it against an acoustic version of Édith Piaf's "La Vie En Rose."

Viewers were treated to a clip of the large dog, who is named Boomer, being hoisted up into his owner's arms to get a clear view of the warm sunset.

"We were on a weekend trip with my in-laws in Carlsbad and went on a sunset beach walk before dinner," Boomer's owner, Charishma Cohen told Newsweek.

"The sunset was absolutely beautiful and the walls were too high for Boomer, my Samoyed, to be able to see it so I gave him a little boost up so he could enjoy it too. It was really beautiful to see how he was taking it all in—the beach is one of his favorite places ever!"

The post had been captioned: "Our dog's world is only as big as we make it. If it means that Boomsie gets to watch the sunset instead of me, I would choose that option every single time."

"The way he's taking it all in. Sunsets are better together," the dog's owner shared in the post.

On its website, the American Kennel Club (AKC) describes the recognizable breed as being "gentle" and "friendly."

The pet registry adds that male members of the breed, on average, grow to 23.5 inches tall and can weigh up to 65 pounds.

"The Samoyed is a substantial but graceful dog. Powerful, tireless, with a thick all-white coat impervious to cold, sammies are perfectly beautiful but highly functional," the AKC states. "A sammy sentenced to solitary confinement in the yard is a miserable and destructive creature. These are smart, social, mischievous dogs who demand love and attention."

What Do the Comments Say?

Since it had been shared to Instagram, the post has been liked by over 320,000 users and commented on more than 300 times. Plenty of internet users have voiced their delight at the viral moment in the post's comments section.
