Steven Tyler Sexual Assault Allegations: What We Know

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler was accused of sexual misconduct by a second woman on Thursday. This is everything we know about the sexual assault allegations that have been made against the singer.

The two women who have filed lawsuits said the misconduct took place when they were both teenagers, with the alleged crimes dating back to the 1970s.

Newsweek reached out to a representative of Tyler for comment via email on Friday. Tyler previously denied all allegations in Julia Misley's lawsuit. He has yet to comment on Jeanne Bellino's allegations.

Julia Misley allegations

In December 2022 Julia Misley, formerly known as Julia Holcomb, was the first to make an accusation against Tyler, 75, filing papers in a Los Angeles court accusing him of sexual assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

She alleged that they began a sexual relationship when she was only 16. The pair met in 1973 after an Aerosmith concert in Oregon, where Tyler took her back to his hotel room and, according to the suit, allegedly "performed various acts of criminal sexual conduct upon" her. Misley has alleged that during this encounter, they also discussed her age.

She said the sexual relationship was able to continue after the "Dream On" singer convinced her mother to allow him to become her guardian so he could travel over state lines with her. She also claimed that Tyler forced her to get an abortion.

The suit claimed Tyler "coerced and persuaded Plaintiff into believing this was a 'romantic love affair'" and according to a story from Rolling Stone, Misley said she "was powerless to resist" his "power, fame, and substantial financial ability." She was able to sue Tyler after California temporarily waived statutes of limitations for childhood sexual abuse allegations.

In the suit, Misley explained that she had planned to move on with her life until the Aerosmith frontman wrote about their relationship in his autobiography, although he didn't mention her by name.

"She was sixteen, she knew how to nasty, and there wasn't a hair on it," Tyler wrote.

He admitted to becoming the girl's guardian, writing "her parents fell in love with me, signed a paper over for me to have custody, so I wouldn't get arrested if I took her out of state. I took her on tour with me."

Tyler added: "With my bad self being twenty-six and she barely old enough to drive and sexy as hell, I just fell madly in love with her. She was a cute skinny little tomboy dressed up as Little Bo Peep. She was my heart's desire, my partner in crimes of passion."

Jeanne Bellino allegations

Now a second woman has sued Tyler for sexual assault, with former child model Jeanne Bellino alleging in a New York lawsuit filed Thursday that Tyler assaulted her in 1975 when she was 17 years old.

Bellino claims Tyler assaulted her twice in one day when she was a teenager. She has also alleged she suffered "physical, psychological and emotional injuries" after the musician groped, kissed, and simulated sex without her consent.

"Jeanne is now 66 years old and suffered in silence and humiliated shame for so many years, and had the courage to now tell her story," her attorney Jeff Anderson told People. "As horrific as it is, it's powerful, and she wanted Latina women and girls to know they can stand up and speak out."

Bellino alleged that she met Tyler, who was then around 27, after a friend had arranged for them to meet Aerosmith at a party at the Warwick Hotel. After Bellino and her friend met Tyler and members of his entourage, they all walked down Sixth Avenue together. Bellino said when she asked Tyler a question about a song lyric, he became irritated and pushed her into a phone booth.

According to documents seen by TMZ and People, the complainant claimed Tyler "put his hands upon her body, her breasts, her buttocks, and her genitals, moving and removing clothing and pinning her against the wall of the phone booth" and "stuck his tongue down her throat" while "holding her captive" in the booth.

She has also alleged Tyler simulated sex with an erect penis while others stood by, laughing, without intervening. As Bellino said she had no way to get home after the alleged ordeal, the complaint claims she returned to the hotel with her friend in a "dazed, confused and shocked" state. When here, Tyler allegedly held Bellino against the wall and "put his tongue down her throat and started humping [Bellino], simulating sex."

According to Bellino's lawsuit, her trauma has left her with a "long-term physical injury" that requires medication to treat. She is suing Aerosmith's frontman for damages.
