Patrick Beverley Barred ESPN Reporter From Interviewing Him For Ridiculous Reason

The NBA Playoffs have already begun, and many of teams predicted to make it farther than the first round have already been eliminated. One such team was the Central Division-leading Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks were the No. 3 seed heading into the playoffs, but have been defeated by the No. 6 seed Indiana Pacers.

The NBA world expected far more from the Bucks, especially after they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in 2022. However, it appears the team just can't seem to claw its way to the finals since they won in 2020.

Naturally, losing in the playoffs can cause tensions to rise and emotions to boil over. Emotions for star point guard Patrick Beverley reached a point that led to him getting into it with Pacers fans on Thursday.

Beverley is shown arguing with fans in the stands and proceeds to launch a ball in their direction. This is not the kind of behavior that professional players should be engaging in. The occurrence led to Beverley addressing the situation on X.

Beverley stated, "Not Fair at all. Exchanged between a fan and our ball club all night. We warned and asked for help all night. Not fair."

Fan behavior is consistent and predictable, especially in the playoffs. It becomes an issue whenever players allow such fan behavior to get to them. The situation should not have escalated.

Beverley is obviously upset about the Bucks being eliminated in the first round of the Eastern Conference Finals, as any player would be. That still does not excuse his attempt to hurt a fan in the stands.

The situation was discussed privately and publicly, and all parties moved on. Beverley then was thrust right back into the spotlight for another negative, unjustifiable cause. While respected ESPN journalist Malinda Adams was attempting to speak to Beverley, she was barred from doing so for a ridiculous reason.

Pacers beat writer Alex Golden caught a video of Beverley barring Adams from speaking to him.

Beverley initially stops the interview and asks Adams, "Do you subscribe to my pod?" Adams responds with, "Do I subscribe to your pod? I do not." Beverley then shuts down her would-be interview with, "You can't interview me then."

Adams was shocked by the response from Beverley, and has since responded to the support she received on X.

Adams stated, "I want to thank everyone for their kind words and support. I am humbled. Patrick Beverley just called me and apologized. I appreciate it and accept it. The Bucks also reached out to apologize. I've been in the news for over 40 years and kindness and grace always win."

Adams was thanking the myriad reporters who stood up for her. They were not alone in chastising Beverley for his treatment of a media personality who was only attempting to do their job.

It's good news that Beverley apparently reached out to Adams and apologized. The heat-of-the-moment decision by Beverley was not a good look for a player making a habit of them. Barring someone from speaking to you if they don't subscribe to your podcast is simply ridiculous.
