Red Sox News: Woman Drives Car Into Fenway Park, Reportedly Hits Worker

A Boston-area driver was involved in multiple crashes Monday, including one at Fenway Park, where she reportedly "barreled through a gate" and hit a forklift worker.

The driver was identified in multiple reports as Colleen Marie Gibbs, 48, from nearby Salem.

According to the reports, no injuries were reported on the scene. Some reports said Gibbs' car struck a forklift; others claimed she struck a forklift driver. In each version of events, Gibbs' 2024 Honda Accord was involved in a series of incidents in the Boston area, culminating in the crash at Gate C of Fenway Park on Lansdowne St.

The first incident was reported to state police shortly after 7 a.m., when a driver in the area of Ocean Ave. and Revere St., near Revere Beach, told a trooper that a car was driving erratically and aggressively.

Police tried to pull her over, according to reports, but the erratic driver sped away. At 7:30 a.m., reports surfaced that the same car was involved in a hit-and-run crash with two other vehicles near the entrance of the Ted Williams Tunnel in East Boston. Two vehicles were struck by Gibbs' Accord, but no one was hurt.

Gibbs was also identified as the responsible driver for a crash at Boston's Coast Guard base. NBC News Boston and CBS News Boston published separate photos Monday of what appears to be a damaged gate at the base undergoing repairs.

After the crash at Fenway Park, Gibbs was reportedly taken to a hospital at 8:30 a.m. with non-life-threatening injuries. According to Boston 25 News, the forklift operator was removing staging equipment from a weekend event at the time of the crash.

The Red Sox are currently in the middle of a road trip. They beat the Minnesota Twins 9-2 on Sunday in Minneapolis, ending the Twins' 12-game winning streak. Tuesday, they will visit the Atlanta Braves, who were swept out of Dodger Stadium over the weekend.

With the team on the road, Northeastern University held its commencement events at Fenway Park on Sunday.

MassLive.com reported that Massachusetts State Police plan to file charges for the crashes in Revere and East Boston. As of now, it's unknown whether Gibbs will face charges in connection with the Fenway Park crash.

Gibbs' Accord might have suffered the worst damage of any structures involved in Monday's hijinks.

"When we went by the first time, the front end of the car was actually lifted off the ground by the forklift," Troy Peterson, a witness, told WCVB. "When we went back by, they had lifted the car back down onto the ground, but the forklift was still butted up against the front end of our car."
