Shay Mitchell Appears to Come Out as Bisexual as Celebs, Fans Support Her

Celebrities and fans are showing their support to Shay Mitchell after she seemingly came out as bisexual.

On Wednesday, October 5, the Pretty Little Liars star, 35, took to TikTok to share a side-by-side video with another user who wrote, "Cc: if you identify as bisexual... do you own a green velvet couch."

In the clip—which has been viewed more than 2.2 million times—the woman laid down on the sofa while Mitchell did the same, prompting a slew of comments.

"Are you saying what I think you're saying!?!?!" one TikToker wrote, a post that has received more than 9,000 likes.

"IS THIS A COME OUT VIDEO? How did I not know this?" one fan asked. "Lots of love Shay, my childhood crush," while another TikToker wrote: "IT'S CONFIRMED."

Mitchell played Emily Fields on Pretty Little Liars and Peach Salinger on Netflix's You, both of whom were a part of the LGBTQ+ community.

"Emily Fields was NOT just a character," a TikToker wrote, as another commented, "Emily Fields caused my bisexual awakening."

"WAITTTT?? Are you??? The way I was obsessed with Emily and Maya," The Ultimatum's Rae Williams, 24, wrote, referring to Emily's love interest.

"YES SHAYYYY," Mitchell's You co-star Kathryn Gallagher, 29, commented.

"Shaaaaayyyy," TikTok star Brittany Furlan, 36, added alongside several heart-eye emojis.

Meanwhile, Human Rights Campaign posted pink, purple and blue heart emojis.

While Mitchell has never specifically come out as bisexual, she has spoken out about her sexuality in the past. During a chat with her PLL co-star Ian Harding last year, he asked the last time she had been attracted to a woman.

"Wow. Every day," Mitchell said in the YouTube video. "For me, it's never been, 'I need to find a boyfriend, I need to find this.' I truly feel like I do fall in love with a person."

In an interview with Maxim magazine in 2017, Mitchell opened up about playing Emily in the mystery thriller, which ran for seven seasons from 2010 to 2017.

"People always ask me, 'You play a gay character? Are you gay? Are you straight? Are you this? Are you that?'" she said at the time. "Look, Emily doesn't label herself, and I don't label myself either. I fall in love with the spirit of somebody. Love is love, and that's something that I'll keep saying."

Mitchell is a mom of two to kids Atlas, 2, and Rome, 5 months, whom she shares with boyfriend Matte Babel, 41. The couple both hail from Toronto and have been together since 2017.
