What 17-Year-Old 'Girl Cat' Does for Owner Each Night Has Internet Sobbing

A social media video that captures a senior cat's subtle way of checking in on her owner at night has tugged at heartstrings across the internet.

The viral video, which has been liked by over 4,000 users since it was first shared to TikTok on December 18, showed the cat's unusual bedtime ritual and has become a tearjerker online.

Viewers were shown Claudia Thiedmann's 17-year-old "girl cat" snuggling up to her in bed, while she stayed up to type away on her laptop. The affectionate cat was filmed keeping a firm eye on Thiedmann throughout the night, in what appeared to be an effort to make sure that her beloved owner gets some sleep.

"POV: You have a 17-year-old girl cat who makes sure that you get to sleep every night," Thiedmann shared in the post.

The post had been captioned: "She's my sweet little baby. Her name is kitty."

The viral clip played against the trending sound, "My Love Mine All Mine" by Mitski, for an added gut-wrench.

Claudia Thiedmann is an actor and producer based in New York. She shared on her website that she was born in Chicago and trained at New York University Tisch School of the Arts, where she trained at Playwrights Horizons Theatre School.
