Sausage Dog Has Best Reaction When the Word 'Dad' Is Mentioned

A social media video that captures a sausage dog's wide-eyed reactions to specific words has delighted viewers across the internet.

The viral video, which has been viewed more than 15 million times since it was first shared to TikTok on January 5, filmed Winston the dachshund's animated reaction to hearing words that he's familiar with while his mom threw the words into a fake phone call.

Highlights included Winston widening his eyes to the sound of "beach," and sitting up and looking around for his owner at the mere mention of "dad." The dachshund boasts an impressive expanse of vocab, his reaction to multiple words ranging from "cheese" to "run" warmed plenty of hearts online.

"Winston turned 3 in December and we have been sharing his wacky journey on social media since he was a pup," Winston's mom, Christina Kirkman, told Newsweek.

Kirkman is a former child actor, best known for her stint in Nickelodeon's long-running comedy series All That, appearing first in Season 9.

After building a following on her own social media platforms, where she goes by @christinakirkman, Kirkman began showing off Winston and his charms to her digital audience.

"I quickly saw how much people loved him, so that's when the Winston story began. He has actually just been named "2023 Dachshund of The Year" by FI dogs," Kirkman said.

Winston the dachshund lives in Los Angeles County with Kirkman and her partner, the aforementioned "dad." The pair manage the TikTok account that they've created to share their pet's daily antics.

What Do the Comments Say?

Since it had been shared to the social media account on January 5 by Kirkman on Winston's account, @winston_da_ween, the TikTok post has been liked by more than 2.5 million users and commented on more than 3,000 times.

"Dad is superior," beauty brand, e.l.f. Cosmetics, wrote.

Another user added: "You better take that baby to the beach with bully sticks, chicken, and his daddy!"

"Aw, he was looking for dad," a third user wrote.

"I hope you took him to the beach with Dad," shared a different TikToker.

Another TikTok user commented: "I love how he gets on his little grinch paws at the end to look for his dad."
