Actor Dom DeLuise -- never without a toothy smile and his signature newsboy cap -- died yesterday in his sleep while surrounded by family in Santa Monica, his son Michael DeLuise confirmed to reporters today. The chubby comedian, 75, had a lengthy career; he was a fixture in Mel Brooks films like "Blazing Saddles" and "Spaceballs," and became a familiar face as the pitchman for Ziploc bags in the 1980s.
