Princess Charlotte 'Looking More & More Like Her Mother' in 'Adorable' Clip

Social media users have commented how Princess Charlotte, 7, is beginning to look "more [and] more like her mother" Kate Middleton, after the royals' social media platforms uploaded a video of the young princess wishing the England women's soccer team good luck ahead of a championship match.

Charlotte, who is the only daughter of Prince William and Kate, filmed a short video clip with her father wishing the England team (nicknamed the "Lionesses") good luck ahead of their UEFA Women's Euro Championship game against Germany on Sunday which they won with a 2-1 score.

"We both want to wish the Lionesses the best of luck for tonight," William, who is the Football Association president, said in the video message. "You've done amazingly well in the competition and we're rooting for you all the way."

To this Charlotte responded: "Good luck and hope you win, bye!"

The clip provided a rare example of the princess speaking on camera, having recorded her first message with her siblings in a question and answer video with Sir David Attenborough in 2020.

The Cambridge children, Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis 4, have made an increased number of public appearances this year with the celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee in June.

As well as undertaking her first carriage ride as part of the Trooping the Colour ceremony with Kate and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Charlotte also made two balcony appearances, attended a pop concert, a visit to Wales and the jubilee pageant over the four-day holiday.

The princess has won praise from royal watchers for her recent public appearances, with commenters on the soccer video message drawing attention to her growing maturity.

"Aww Charlotte is so adorable, she's growing up so quickly," said one user.

"She's so pretty," posted another.

Many comments also compared the young princess to her mother, with one poster writing: "She's looking more & more like her mother as she grows up."

It is not just in physical features that the similarities between Charlotte and Kate were apparent, the young princess also wore a fashion print much worn by the duchess over the past year—polka dots.

Kate has worn polka dots on a number of occasions this year including most recently Royal Ascot and Wimbledon.

Charlotte's taking part in the video for the Lionesses comes as William revealed during a visit to the team's training ground that the princess is a keen soccer player and could be a future star in the making.

After speaking with the team and being presented with personalized shirts for his children, the prince told the players: "Charlotte wants me to tell you she's really good in goal. She said 'please tell them that,'" before adding that she is "a budding star for the future!"

Following the Lionesses' 2-1 victory on Sunday night where the prince presented the trophy to the winners, giving team captain Leah Williamson a congratulatory hug, he posted to Twitter: "Sensational. An incredible win @lionesses and the whole nation couldn't be prouder of you all. Wonderful to see history in the making tonight at Wembley, congratulations! W."

This was not the only message of royal support sent to the team, with an official greeting being issued by the queen praising the players as an "inspiration" for women.

"My warmest congratulations, and those of my family, go to you all on winning the European Women's Football Championships. It is a significant achievement for the entire team, including your support staff," the message read.

"The Championships and your performance in them have rightly won praise. However, your success goes far beyond the trophy you have so deservedly earned. You have all set an example that will be an inspiration for girls and women today, and for future generations.

"It is my hope that you will be as proud of the impact you have had on your sport as you are of the result today. ELIZABETH R"

The win was a historic milestone for English soccer as the first major tournament win for the women's national squad. The victory also comes 56 years after the country won the World Cup in 1966, also against Germany.
