Pair of Raccoons 'Just Chilling' in Dumpster Have Internet in Stitches

A man from Toronto has left the internet in stitches after sharing a clip of a hilarious encounter he had at a local garbage bin earlier this week.

In a post shared on TikTok on Monday, under the username Nikinikinono, the poster can be seen opening a dumpster in the street, only to find a pair of raccoons inside chilling on top of the waste bags, and clearly living their best life.

Still incredulous after his hilarious discovery, the poster can be heard asking them: "What are you all doing? You are so funny!"

Wildlife Removal USA says that the number of raccoons in the country has grown considerably since hunting has reduced.

"The raccoons have been able to adapt well into the urban life and they are the common species that may be found in the towns or cities," the website says.

Raccoons are omnivorous and are able to eat anything they find, including vegetables, berries, small snakes, bird eggs, cherries, walnuts, beetles, worms, corn, grapes, grasshoppers and crayfish.

That's why it's normal to find raccoons raiding dumpsters and garbage cans. They are also able to travel through storm sewers and often target restaurant dumpsters in order to get their food.

If you live in an area with raccoons there are a few steps you can take to secure your trash can and prevent them from leaving a mess. You can seal the lid tight, to make it harder for them to open, or you can also use mothballs in the garbage to repel them. Sprinkling baby powder or sand in your trash bags can also help.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 1.2 million views and 180,900 likes on the platform.

One user, Scoopy Jones, commented: "Honestly in this economy.. this looks like the place to be." And Hisammy said: "When I travel to America all I want to do is to go down lanes and look for Bin pandas."

Alex Cameron wrote: "Just chilling listening to the rain." And Boasty Juice added: "Me and my guy when we don't clean the apartment." And honda_mom911said: "Naps are the best on rainy days....everyone knows that."
