Heaven as Owners Finally Get 'Social Butterfly' Labrador a New Puppy

A social media video offering insight into how one family's life forever changed after welcoming a new pet into their home has delighted viewers across the internet.

The viral video, which has been viewed more than 5.5 million times since it was first shared on Instagram on January 15, introduced internet users to Angus and Olive, two Labrador retrievers who have become siblings.

Pet-obsessed viewers watched the compilation video that documented how the couple, who are based in Hampshire, England, took in a dog in 2022 before welcoming another Labrador to their household just 18 months later.

"In October 2023, we decided it was time. Baby [sister] finally joined us," the dogs' owners, who go by @itsmrangus on the social media platform, shared in the post.

The reason behind their decision lay in their first dog Angus' playful and confident nature. The couple soon realized that the boisterous dog would benefit from a younger playmate.

"He's a social butterfly who loves company, so we knew we wanted to get a second dog eventually," the owners said on Instagram.

Indeed, they did, and Angus and Olive became inseparable when they first met, even though dogs usually need a bit of time to warm up after they're introduced to new animals in the household.

The United Kingdom-based animal welfare charity Battersea Dogs & Cats Home advises owners to take careful steps to prepare for an eventual meeting between an existing pet and a new puppy. Fortunately, Angus and Olive appear to have liked each other right off the bat.

Viewers were treated to clips of the pair playing together and snuggling up to each other in the heartfelt post, which was captioned: "How it's going so far. Getting our dog a dog. Getting our dog a puppy. Labrador siblings."
