How Owner Completes Daily Chores With 'Super Needy Cat' Has People Laughing

A pet-owning couple provided a glimpse of the extreme steps they have to take to keep their super-clingy cat happy.

Brogan and Harrison live in the city of Newcastle in the U.K. with their two young sons. They regularly post content to TikTok and YouTube chronicling their everyday lives.

However, it's one of their cats, Robi, who has been stealing the social media spotlight of late thanks to his hilariously loved-up behavior around the house.

Though cats are often considered solitary animals, felines are capable of being just as attached to their owners as a dog might be.

Proof of this was published in a 2019 edition of Current Biology. According to a study from the scientific journal, cats experience a level of attachment to their human that is similar to that of parent and infant.

Researchers reached that conclusion after an experiment involving 108 cats and their owners. As part of the research, each of the cats was placed in a room with its owner for two minutes. Their owner was then asked to leave for two minutes before returning for another two minutes.

During this time, researchers then observed the cats' behavior upon their owner's return. They found that 64 percent of the cats exhibited a degree of secure attachment to their owner, meaning they felt comfortable in a new scenario due to the presence of a parental figure.

This was demonstrated in the way the cats greeted their owners when they returned before going back to what they were doing. In instances where the cat felt insecure, they would twitch their tails, lick their lips or avoid their owner altogether.

Robi certainly appears to be attached to his owners. If anything, he's a little too attached. In a video posted to TikTok under the handle broganandharrison_, Harrison can be seen attempting to cook lunch while Robi sits on his shoulders.

It's a setup Harrison and Brogan appear pretty comfortable with, while Robi is simply happy to help out with a few chores and can be heard meowing from her perch on top of her owner.

"Robi is the biggest love bug in the world and loves his humans," Harrison told Newsweek. "He came into our life when we went back into lockdown in 2021. Fetch is his favorite thing! He also just loves being with his people, having cuddles and loves to have a chat!"

Brogan attributes Robi's clinginess to the lockdowns that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We both work from home a lot and so he loves us being around him! That's why we actually rescued Ricky [their other cat]," she said. "Robi really needed someone to be with him when we were out and that's why they have the best brother relationship ever and Ricky coming into our lives was a blessing!"

Harrison said they started posting videos of Robi and Ricky on social media because they make them "laugh every day and are constantly doing something entertaining." In the case of Robi, the clips largely focus on his clinginess.

"He sits on our shoulders every day. From him being a kitten, we have always called him our little parrot," Brogan said. "We love comparing photos from then to now with him on our shoulders! It can be difficult when he hops in and you're in an awkward position like doing your shoelace! However, we love it and always make it work!"

The footage subtitled "Completing our everyday tasks with our super needy cat" has certainly proved popular on TikTok, with the video racking up over 930,000 views and counting. One user branded him a "shoulder cat" with another claiming Robi was merely "supervising" Harrison during his cooking. A third said the adorable feline really "needs his own baby carrier."

Commenting on the clip's popularity Harrison put it down to the fact the footage was "different and unique." He said: "It's definitely not normal behavior for a cat!"
