Why Nobody Can Believe Photos of This Woman Were Taken Minutes Apart

Prepare to have your jaw drop as you watch this video of an expecting mother who doesn't appear to be pregnant at all—until she shows her side profile.

The footage of 31-year-old Jordan Arcila (@jordanke) standing in the gym while wearing a blue tank top and shorts has left the internet in total shock. At first glance, she appears to be slender and toned. But the fitness trainer from Orlando, Florida, is six months pregnant, to the surprise of 5.8 million Instagram viewers.

Arcila told Newsweek that it is hard for people to know she is pregnant from the front, especially if she is wearing dark clothing.

"I feel like it's because I have such narrow hips," she said. "I have trained through my entire pregnancy and ate as healthy as I can most of the time."

Hiding bump

The footage shows Arcila standing with her hands on her hips. She then turns to the side and lifts up her top to reveal a baby bump. Text layered over the clip says, "Reasons you can't trust anything you see on social media."

The video's caption reads: "In today's digital world, it's easy to get caught up in the allure of social media. But remember, not everything you see is as it seems."

"I thought it would be funny to shock the world when I turn," Arcila told Newsweek.

It looks like her mission was accomplished. Over 580 people have commented on the video since it was posted on March 13, and it has also amassed over 169,000 likes.

"She kept the baby in her rib cage for few seconds," joked one commenter.

Another social media user wrote: "Woah... wait what?"

"So true. [I] almost forgot your were pregnant," said a third commenter.

Another mom said: "Woooooow!!!!!!!! I was huge at 6 months."

There are several reasons why some women may have a small bump. It could depend on their weight, the baby's position, or being a first-time mom. According to milk formula company Cow & Gate, those who have never been pregnant before are more likely to have a compact bump because their stomach muscles have never been stretched before. In this case, Arcila is pregnant for the second time but working out in between babies has definitely played a part.

Although Arcila knew she was pregnant, some women may not know they're expecting until much later in the pregnancy. A cryptic pregnancy is one that goes undetected until halfway through the gestation period or even up until labor. Pregnancies that remain unknown until the moment of delivery are rare, with one study estimating that they occur in one out of every 7,225 pregnancies.
