Mega Millions Results, Numbers for 3/8/22: Did Anyone Win the $126 Million Jackpot?

The Mega Millions numbers drawn for Tuesday March 8 were 07, 18, 38, 58, 64, the Mega Ball itself was 24 and the Megaplier was 3X.

An estimated jackpot of a massive $126 million was up for grabs with the cash option being a not-too-shabby $84.5 million.

Since a 3X Megaplier bonus was in effect, players could theoretically triple their winnings as long as they paid the extra dollar when they bought a ticket.

Did Anyone Win the Mega Millions Jackpot on March 8?

One person from New York is waking up incredibly rich this morning as they managed to snag the jackpot, changing their life forever. That means the prize will be reset for the next draw.

The Mega Millions website confirmed that the holder of the winning ticket is from New York state, and that they were the only person to match all five white ball numbers, as well as the yellow Mega Ball. They're now the holders of a Mega Millions ticket worth a potential $126 million.

This lucky person was the biggest winner by a huge margin as no one else managed to get all five white numbers without the Mega Ball, meaning the regular prize of $1 million went unclaimed.

There were nine people who managed to guess four white ball numbers correctly, and the yellow Mega Ball, which earned each of them a cool $10,000. Three of those winners played the Megaplier and tripled their prize to $30,000.

The prizes get smaller but the number of winners get bigger from here as 276 people got four white numbers correct without the Mega Ball, securing $500. Fifty of those winners tripled their prize to $1500.

Then 782 people got three white ball numbers correct, with the Mega Ball for a $200 win. Just 177 people managed to triple their prize to $600.

A total of 35,183 players won a $10 pay out by either matching three white ball numbers, or two white numbers and the Mega Ball. Just a fifth of that number, 7,107 to be exact, tripled to win $30.

Matching one number and the Mega Ball were 125,269 players who secured themselves $4. Of those "winners," 25,549 tripled their money to $12. And the smallest prize available was $2 for those that matched the Mega Ball of 24. There were 300,061 winners here, with 60,703 playing the Megaplier and turning that into $6.

The Mega Millions website states that your overall chances of winning a prize of any size are 1 in 24, but the odds of you winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.

The Next Mega Millions Draw

Now that the Mega Millions jackpot has been claimed, the prize money will reset and the next available jackpot will be considerably smaller.

On Friday March 11 at 11 p.m. ET, the next Mega Millions numbers will be drawn with the estimated jackpot standing at $20 million. The cash option will be $13.4 million.
