Everything We Know About Channing Tatum's 'Magic Mike 3' and the 'Stripperverse'

Magic Mike will ride again as a third movie in the series has been announced by Warner Bros. and by Channing Tatum himself.

Steven Soderbergh's original movie Magic Mike has already spawned a sequel, a live stage show and a reality TV series, but now the franchise is heading back to its roots with another sequel featuring members from the original cast.

2022 will mark ten years since the first film was released. Here's everything we know so far about the confirmed Magic Mike movie.

What is the new Magic Mike called?

Warner Bros. Pictures confirmed to Newsweek that the new movie will be called Magic Mike's Last Dance.

It's expected to directly follow on from the events of Magic Mike and the second movie Magic Mike XXL.

Channing Tatum also confirmed the title by sharing an image of the script on his social media channels. He wrote: "Well world, looks like Mike Lane's tapping back in."

In the statement, Tatum shared his joy at the news, and relished the chance of reuniting with the team. He said: "There are no words for how excited I am to blow the doors off of the world of Magic Mike with Steven, Greg, Reid, and the amazing people at HBO Max. The stripperverse will never be the same."

Who is behind Magic Mike 3?

As we know Channing Tatum is returning for Magic Mike's Last Dance and he will reprise his role as the titular Mike Lane.

Original movie director Steven Soderbergh will also return to direct the third movie, despite sitting out Magic Mike XXL. Reid Carolin wrote the first two scripts and has written the screenplay for Magic Mike's Last Dance too. The director of Magic Mike XXL, Gregory Jacobs returns as a producer alongside Carolin, Nick Wechsler and Peter Kiernan.

Soderbergh admitted that the live shows rejuvenated his interest in the franchise and inspired him to create another Magic Mike movie. ""As soon as I saw what Channing, Reid, and the 'Magic Mike' choreographic team did with the live show, I said we have to make another movie. Mike Lane's dream of connecting people through dance must be realized," Soderbergh said.
