Madonna's Daughter Drops Debut Single: Watch the Video

Madonna's daughter, Lourdes Leon, officially released a debut single titled "Lock&Key" under the name Lolahol.

The 25-year-old model and dancer released the song and music video on Wednesday with Chemical X, the record label owned and operated by Eartheater, an experimental artist and co-producer of the song. The song was also produced by Samuel Burgess and Hara Kiri.

Lolahol's new single is a fresh, neon, synthetic tone with sped-up jungle beats that accompany Leon's airy, siren-like vocals, which pairs well with the kind of music Leon has previously shared that she enjoys listening to.

She told Interview magazine about a year ago, "I've always been a big house and techno person, ever since I was young."

"The track is a sprawling club-pop anthem layered with breakbeats and honeyed vocals, making Lola the unsuspecting starburst of futuristic, experimental trip-hop," said a press release announcing the single that was shared with Newsweek.

In the music video, which was also directed by Eartheater, Leon takes viewers through the outer edges of New York, hanging out of a moving car and spending time in a cemetery before the video ends on a beach. The press release described it as both "gritty and breathtaking."

A shot from the music video was posted on Leon's Instagram on Wednesday.

While it is evident that Leon is following in her mother's footsteps, she revealed last October that she wasn't all that interested in pursuing music.

"As for music, I can sing. I just don't care about it. Maybe it's too close to home," she told Interview. She also discussed her other endeavors, including modeling, which she has done for brands such as Marc Jacobs, Mugler, Swarovski, Calvin Klein and Barragán, and dancing, which she made her passion in college.

"I want to create a world in which models have more agency over what they're doing, and they're not just silent clothing racks," Leon said. "That's the age that we're coming into in the fashion world: models as personalities and artists."

Leon said that her mother is always pushing her to think about the legacy she wants to leave.

"She's very much like, 'Proceed with caution and think about what you want to be known for,'" Leon said. "I've thought a lot about that recently, because as a 'model,' you're basically relying on your looks. It can feel very overwhelming, and can potentially cause a lot of insecurity."

When asked how it felt to be in the spotlight after years of staying low, the 25-year-old added, "I've been judged from a young age, but I think that privacy is the reason why I was able to keep my wits about me and not find myself in a mental asylum. I want to figure out who the f**k I am before I let anyone else try to tell me who I am, you know?"
