Laughter at Real Reason Greyhound Won't Walk: 'Happens Way Too Often'

The moment a dog owner discovered the real reason for her greyhound's apparent leg injury has left the internet in stitches.

In a viral video posted on TikTok, the owner—using the account @jayce_the_greyhound—shared the emotional roller coaster she went on when she thought her greyhound, Jayce, had injured his foot.

Alongside the video, the owner said: "When you freak out that your dog has a muscular injury so start filming so you can send it to your vet but it turns out he just has dumb paws."

As she recorded the video, the owner looked at Jayce's foot and realized the cause of his limping: a spiky seed pod lodged in his paw.

"This happens way too often and I panic everytime," the owner wrote in the caption.

Newsweek reached out to @jayce_the_greyhound via TikTok for comment.

With over 153,000 views, the video struck a chord with fellow dog owners, many of whom headed to the comments section to empathize with the owner's plight and share their own experiences.

"Lol mine has done that, proper drama dogs," one commenter wrote.

Other greyhound owners chimed in with anecdotes, sharing the unique quirks and sensitivities of the breed. "Haha, those little seed pods are the bane of my grey—constantly gets them stuck right in there," a fellow pet owner said.

"I never understood what people meant when they said 'Greyhounds are so sensitive,' now I have one. I get it," another TikToker said.

Originating in Egypt, greyhounds are the fastest dog breed in the world, capable of reaching speeds of up to 45 mph.

In 1885, they were recognized as a breed by the American Kennel Club, and the organization currently lists them as the 129th most popular breed in the U.S.

With a history of hunting and racing, greyhounds are intelligent, affectionate dogs known for their loyalty to their families.

Despite being known for racing, they have moderate exercise needs and are often described as being sensitive.

Jayce isn't the first greyhound to gain viral attention. Two racing greyhounds recently went viral over their adorable reaction to their first walk since being adopted.

And earlier this year, the internet was confused by a happy greyhound's unusual habit: teeth chattering. While it seemed odd, the owners were quick to point out it was a good thing and a sign of happiness.
