Lady Gaga Message Raises Questions

Lady Gaga fans are freaking out because they think not only is the musician working on a new album, but that it might be a tribute to Prince.

A simple reply from Gaga— whose given name is Stefani Germanotta— to a fan on her Instagram was enough to send her fans into a meltdown.

Gaga had posted a selfie in sunglasses to her Instagram with the caption: "Happy Saturday," and and a black love heart emoji.

One of her Monsters— the name of Gaga's fans— commented on the post, writing: "Gurl we need you to come back," urging her to release new music.

The Grammy winner hasn't released a solo studio album since 2020's Chromatica.

She replied: "Sexy never left," and people quickly rushed to point out her comment seemed to be a reference to legendary musician Prince.

Prince reportedly made the statement way back in 2006 at an Emmys party when he was asked for his thoughts about Justin Timberlake's new song at the time, SexyBack.

"For whoever is claiming that they are bringing sexy back, sexy never left!" Prince said, per Vanity Fair.

Gaga is known to be a huge Prince fan and some even think this is the second time she has dropped that her new album might be inspired by his music.

"'Sexy never left' is a reference to Prince shading Justin Timberlake's 'Sexyback' by saying 'For whoever saying sexy is back, sexy never left' Another Prince mention by Lady Gaga teasing LG7 ? 💜🖤," wrote a Gaga fan on X, formerly Twitter.

In that post, the fan account also shared a photo from Gaga posing with musicians in what looks like a recording studio as a photo of Prince hangs on a wall in the background.

Other people also questioned if Gaga's reply was a Prince reference, and more specifically, a hint at what kind of music she was making.

"Is this a Prince reference sexy?" asked one fan.

And another wrote: "Sounds like a Prince reference."

Gaga was hugely inspired by Prince and wrote a heartfelt tribute to him after his death in 2016.

"Isn't it amazing Prince shared his soul with us so deeply before his death, and now after we will be replenished endlessly by both his legacy and all that he still has to give from the beyond," wrote Gaga on Instagram at the time. "Thank you for sharing your life with us Prince."

She continued: "You just found God early, he needed you upstairs to innovate in heaven."
