The female cat then let out a bizarre hiss, as if to warn her owner to back off and let her continue munching away at the spuds. Unstirred by her mischievous cat's serpentine hum, the owner simply laughed and called her "evil".

The unexpected meow led to plenty of laughter online with one user commenting "sounded like she was rewinding" while another wrote "the cackle I just cookled" in the post's comments section.

The cat's owner, who goes by @amazydayzee on the platform, had shared in the post's comments section that they'd "covered everything in soap and rinsed the sink" but that it still "wasn't enough" to deter Penny's cravings.

"Caught Penny eating sink potatoes and she started speaking tongues," the cat's owner shared in the post.

The post had been captioned: "This kitten will start the apocalypse over potatoes."
