Kim Kardashian Oscars Photo Slammed

Kim Kardashian is facing backlash over her "shameful" Oscars outfit.

The reality star attended the Academy Awards on Sunday night in a tight-fitting white column-style gown. The design featured a pointed neckline that jutted out from the 43-year-old's torso, with a matching train in the same triangular shape.

Kardashian shared photos of the dress to Instagram on Tuesday, including images of her rocking the look on the red carpet.

"OSCARS 2024 Vanity Fair Party in Balenciaga Couture," she wrote alongside the reel, but the garment caused controversy.

The gown was designed by Spanish fashion house Balenciaga. The Kardashians star became an ambassador for the luxury brand in January, although she'd long been associated with the brand.

Balenciaga came under fire for its Christmas 2022 campaign, which included photographs of children holding teddy bear handbags dressed in "BDSM" gear. The brand apologized, but the ads sparked "child abuse" allegations.

"Once again, disappointed," commented Kristen Chang.

"So much for her stance on pedophilia...shameful," said Carol Maunder.

"Seriously? You have kids... guess money is more important?" wrote Katerina Beyer.

"Isn't this the company she swore to never wear or deal with and every time you look up she is wearing this brand?" asked @arm_royality_personal_stylist.

However, others praised the look, including reality star and Kardashian's former BFF, Paris Hilton, who commented with multiple fire emojis.

"Stunning," said Vicki Casciola.

"This is Peak Kim," wrote Stephanie Marie Wrye.

"This is probably one of your absolute best looks, keep this energy!" agreed Kendre Nichole.

Newsweek has reached out to Kim Kardashian for comment via email.

Kardashian criticized Balenciaga following the controversial Christmas campaign.

"As soon as I saw what everyone was seeing...I completely spoke out and gave my thoughts on child porn and completely denounced it," she told host Angie Martinez during an episode of the IRL podcast.

However, her feelings toward the brand appear to have softened. After announcing she'd become an ambassador for Balenciaga on Instagram, she was swamped by negative comments.

"The same brand that sexualized children, we just supposed to forget about that?" asked one follower.

"No integrity. No morals. Stand for nothing," said another.

The American Horror Story actress received similar backlash after posting photos in a Balenciaga coat and hat, with one user commenting: "Why is this mother of 4 still wearing this pedo brand?!?"

Balenciaga isn't the only luxury brand Kardashian has been called out for supporting. The [blank] was accused of promoting "unhealthy proportions in women" after wearing a corset by French fashion house Mugler in February, shortly after being slammed for showcasing her "stupid a**" Tesla on Instagram.
