Man Hilariously Kept Awake by Pet at 3 a.m. in the Most Unexpected Way

A post shared on TikTok shows a double yellow-headed Amazon parrot called Michael singing a children's song called "Five Little Ducks" while his owner tries his best to sleep through the noise.

The parrot can be heard singing multiple verses of the songs, pronouncing each and every word of the text correctly, and even imitating little duck sounds.

A caption of the post, which was shared on Saturday under the username lokovodo, reads: "POV: it's 3 a.m. but you have a double yellow-headed Amazon." Followed by: "Michael serenading at 3 a.m."

While they do not have lips or vocal cords like humans do, parrots are still able to produce sounds similar to ours thanks to an organ called syrinx, which is located at the point where the trachea splits to go into the lungs. It works similarly to our vocal cords.

They also have an area of the brain, called "song system," which is entirely dedicated to learning and repeating sounds.

In theory, all parrots are able to mimic human sounds, but some do it better than others. Some parrot species including African grays, Amazon parrots and cockatoos, are known for being among the best "talkers." Meanwhile, species like macaws and Senegal parrots may be less prolific.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 2 million views and 175,800 likes on the platform.

One user, Bettaful Creations, commented: "Everyone saying how cute this is but no one is saying how CRAZY impressive the bird singing such a long song perfectly is!!!"

Brenda Solares wrote: "This song will be played in my brain in the middle of the night with the bird's voice."

One user said: "Obviously your bird has been in my kindergarten classroom cause that song is a daily pick lol." And another user added: "Well, that's a new one. I've never seen a bird sing a whole song before. Amazing!!"
