Joe Biden Gets Good News in Six Key Swing States

President Joe Biden has completely eradicated Donald Trump's lead in three key swing states, and reduced it in a further three, according to surveys conducted in seven states.

March polls conducted by Morning Consult for Bloomberg show that Biden's numbers are improving from the previous month. He now leads in Wisconsin, having previously been four-points behind the presumptive 2024 Republican candidate in the Badger State. Biden and Trump are also now neck and neck in Pennsylvania and Michigan, where the former president was leading in February.

Trump is still ahead of Biden in Arizona, Nevada, and North Carolina, although by a smaller margin than in previous surveys in February.

The only state in which Biden did not perform better was Georgia, where Trump managed to increase his six-point lead in February (43 to 49 percent) by one point (42 to 49 percent). Overall, Trump still leads Biden across the seven swing states, 47 percent to 43 percent.

The poll was taken of 4,932 registered voters in the aforementioned states from March 8 to March 15. There was a margin of error, plus and minus, of three points in Arizona, Georgia and Pennsylvania; four points in Michigan North Carolina and Wisconsin; five points in Nevada; and one point in the combined sample of all seven states.

The results could still be seen as a much needed boost for the president, who has long faced concerns about his polling numbers as he gears up for a rematch of the 2020 election against Trump in November. The results suggest that Biden could rely on momentum to produce a trajectory which gives him a path to reelection in November.

The previous Morning Consult/Bloomberg poll showed Trump was four points ahead in Wisconsin (42 to 46 percent). However, Biden now leads the state by one point in March's survey (46 to 45 percent).

In Pennsylvania, Biden completely removed Trump's six-point lead in February (43 to 49 percent), with the pair now tied on 45 percent. Biden and Trump are also now level on 45 points in Michigan, where Trump led in February by two points.

These three states where Biden is leading or tied with Trump are part of the so-called "Blue Wall," which have historically leaned to the Democrats in recent presidential elections, including in the 2020 race.

If Biden were to retain these three states in November, he could potentially be on course to win the race against Trump with a smaller margin of victory than he saw in 2020.

Elsewhere, Biden has also reduced Trump's lead over him in three other states, including reducing a nine-point deficit in North Carolina (43 to 49 percent) to six-points (43 to 49 percent).

In Nevada, Trump's six-point lead over Biden in February (42 to 48 percent) has been cut down to two (44 to 46 percent).

Biden has also narrowly reduced Trump's previous six-point lead in Arizona to five in the latest poll (43 to 48 percent).

The Morning Consult/Bloomberg swing state surveys were conducted one day after Biden delivered his State of the Union (SOTU) address on March 7, which was met with praise for the president.

"He was a bulldog in this SOTU. He was combative, funny, and aggressive. It also was the most pro-union speech I've ever heard from a U.S. president," Heath Brown, an associate professor of public policy at the City University of New York previously told Newsweek.

"This clearly was the official launch of his reelection campaign, and a good one at that."

A separate Morning Consult survey of 5,833 registered voters from across the U.S. conducted between March 22 and March 24 that was also released on Monday showed that Biden has a narrow one-point lead over Trump overall in the 2024 Election (44 percent to 43 percent).
