Video of Joe Biden Wandering Around Toy Store Sparks Debate

A video of Joe Biden appearing to walk around aimlessly while holding toys has gone viral on Twitter, with many ridiculing the president and claiming the clip was digitally altered.

The clip showed Biden handling toys alongside some children and adults while at an event earlier in the week. The video has so far been viewed more than 880,000 times.

Biden and the first lady, Jill Biden, were participating in a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots event at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington, Virginia, on Monday, when the footage was filmed.

Sharing the clip on Twitter, one user jokingly suggested Biden was attempting to steal the toy to give to his grandson, Beau Biden Jr.

However, longer footage of the event showed Biden, as well as the children seen in the footage, placing the toys into a care package box rather than walking off with them.

Biden was also seen speaking to the children at the event and some of the reporters briefly.

Despite this fact, some social media users commented on the clip that Biden may not have actually been at the event, with some suggesting a green screen was used to hide this.

One social media user wrote: "Definitely green screen... watch the top/back of his head fade in and out. Hilarious, creepy Joe. They have to digitally add him to keep him from embarrassing us. Again."

Another wrote: "He looks like [he was] copied into some staged scene. I don't know, looks totally off."

One social media user said: "Looks totally staged to me. All the people walking aimlessly around and by him look like extras."

Other social media users claimed that Biden had made another gaffe and was wandering aimlessly, not realizing the clips fail to show the moment Biden places the toys he is carrying in the care package for the charity event.

During the event, Biden praised the Marine Corps for their work with the Toys for Tots Program.

Through the program, marines and volunteers have sent out 627 million toys to more than 281 million children since 1947, according to the White House.

Biden said that in 2021, the initiative was able to collect 22 million toys and deliver them to 8 million children, ultimately "giving Santa a run for his money."

Biden said: "But unlike Santa, you don't wear big red suits, you don't travel the world in just one night. Instead, you wear dress blues and army greens. You stand watch around the world every single night."

Newsweek has contacted the White House for comment.
