Intrigue Mounts As Man's Gesture To Win Girlfriend Back Goes Viral

Most of us have seen movies where a groveling partner or ex serenades a loved one from beneath a windowsill or balcony, but few have witnessed such a scene in real life.

But one TikToker has—along with her neighborhood—as her friend was sung to from a bustling street in Madrid, prompting intrigue from social media users.

Marie Vangerven captured the entertaining moment as she and the pal sat by an open window, and posted it to her account @marie_vangerven on March 20. To date, the clip has been viewed more than 5.5 million times.

Viewers watched with varying degrees of curiosity. The friend's boyfriend is seen in the clip standing below the window, swaying from side to side with what appears to be a bottle of wine in his hand, while a guitarist sings a romantic melody behind him.

Passersby, quick to get in on the streetside drama, can be seen stopping to watch the display of love and regret. Some get their own phones out to record the moment, while others sway along to the music.

"[Point of view]: Your friend's boyfriend tries to win her back," Vangerven captioned the video.

"Girl WHAT DID HE DO," pleaded another user.

"Only acceptable kind of apology," Pepsi's added.

Another user shared: "If he's not like this, I don't want him."

While one TikToker wrote: "This is what we all deserve (I don't know if she wants him back, I don't mean that or him, I mean we all deserve to be serenaded by a love interest in public at some point)."
