Internet Can't Believe 'Scary' Dog's Behavior During Bathtime

A "scary" dog's surprisingly sweet bathtime routine has been melting hearts across the internet, after their owner decided to capture and share the multi-step pamper session to TikTok.

The viral video, which has been viewed more than 61 million times since it was first shared to the platform on March 16, filmed the dog enjoying premium quality shampoo, snout balm, an opal face roller, and coconut oil, before settling into bed for a nap in a onesie.

Scene-stealing moments included when the dog willingly accepting a pastel-colored spa headband—complete with a bow—and a toothbrush coated in canine-friendly toothpaste. The dog was also filmed patiently sitting through a routine claw trim with an at-home manicure set.

Bridget the 7-year-old English mastiff dog's owner had referred to her as "scary" in the post, because her breed are known for their tough demeanor. They are commonly put to use as guard dogs.

"She loves bath time and extra special attention," Bridget's owner, Brookelynn Goodlin, told Newsweek.

"She's a very sweet, affectionate snuggle bug that will sit on your lap all day if you let her."

"She's a very goofy, mellow girl, that's been the best big sister to all her foster siblings, big and small. She especially loves when we foster kittens and treats them as if they're her own, which is the cutest thing ever."

How Often Should You Wash Your Dog?

It's hard to know how often you should be washing your pup, as that ultimately depends on their breed, age and coat type, but in general the hygiene and maintenance of your four-legged friends should always be prioritized.

Newsweek spoke with dog expert Sadie Cornelius to find out just how often pet dogs should be getting washed.

"It depends on several factors, including their hair length, activity level, breed, and skin conditions. At a minimum, most dogs should be bathed once every three months," Cornelius said.

"With most dogs, you can wash them as frequently as every other week with a gentle shampoo. When in doubt, use your judgment—if your dog doesn't have a limiting skin condition and starts to smell, or their coat is dirty, it's probably time for a bath," she added.
