Tears as Horse Comforts Owner Without Realizing Reason Why She's Crying

A woman has melted millions of hearts online after she shared a clip of her horse consoling her while she wept, but what he couldn't have known was that her tears were for him.

In a now-viral video posted on October 8 by @kims.pferdewahnsinn, the 22-year-old can be seen clutching her head in her hands, as she cries inside the stables. The TikTok poster might have appreciated a human's shoulder to cry on, but she was greeted by her horse, Scato, instead, who gently nuzzled her to show affection.

The horse wasn't aware that the woman was crying because she was devastated to find out that her parents had sold him. In the footage, Scato continues to comfort her and try to stop her torment. Alongside the video, @kims.pferdewahnsinn wrote: "Losing a horse is a pain that cannot be expressed in words."

Horses are undoubtedly very intellectual animals, and while they can learn signals and training routines with ease, it is thought that they may also be able to understand human emotional signals, too.

A study, published in the 2019 journal Animals, found that horses responded differently to expressions of disgust compared to neutral cues. The results of the study highlighted that the animals are sensitive to human behaviors, particularly negative ones, and they will alter their response accordingly.

Since the emotional clip was shared, it has already generated more than 6 million views and over 906,000 likes on TikTok in a matter of days. Many social-media users have sympathized with the heartache that @kims.pferdewahnsinn was feeling in that vulnerable moment, while others praised Scato for trying to help her get through it.

After posting the heartfelt video on TikTok, @kims.pferdewahnsinn said in an Instagram post that Scato had been sold primarily for financial reasons. With living costs rising exponentially, and the family owning other horses too, they had to make the sacrifice to sell one. However, the poster added that Scato was sold back to his previous owner, so he's still in good hands and being well cared for.

Since going viral, the TikTok user has continued posting videos of herself with the horses, particularly Scato, to cherish the wonderful memories she has made with the creatures.

With more than 5,800 comments on the video so far, many people have reached out to share their sorrow that Scato the horse was sold, with others writing that the clip left them in tears as well.

One comment on the post reads: "Been there, had that done, and it destroyed a little bit of my soul. I am so sorry!"

Another person commented: "The way this instantly made me cry."

A third TikTok user wrote: "Our pets are everything. They are our babies."

Another commenter posted: "He will always love you no matter what, and you two will always be close in heart."
