A social media video of a miniature dachshund squealing with excitement after spotting her dad at a train station has delighted viewers across the Internet.
The viral video, which has been viewed more than 664,000 times since it was first shared to TikTok on January 11, captured the miniature dachshund's reaction to seeing her owner on his commute home from work in London, U.K.
TikTokers were treated to a clip of the female sausage dog, kitted out in a pink winter coat, wagging her tail in excitement after spotting and greeting her owner who she'd managed to identify from afar and behind a ticket barrier.
Pippa the dachshund was then filmed rushing towards him, as much as was possible while on the leash, and leaping forward to give him a warm welcome.
The post is captioned: "Waiting for daddy, making people smile at the end of their commute."
The video was taken by the dog's owner Katie Aitken, who goes by @_katieeatss. Aitken, who hails from Scotland, regularly posts lifestyle content about her new life in London.
What Do the Comments Say?
Since it was shared on the social media platform on January 11 by @ _katieeatss, the TikTok post has been liked by over 90,000 users and commented on more than 200 times. Plenty of TikTok users have voiced how similar their pets are to Pippa in the post's comments section.
"Mine does this and a lil wee on the floor," one user wrote.
Another user added: "Mine does this but also happy screams."
"We have a dachshund and nobody told me how much they wiggle when they're excited," a third TikToker shared.
Dachshunds, commonly called sausage dogs or wiener dogs, are a popular breed in the U.S. and Europe. Originating in Germany, they were bred to chase rabbits and badgers down tunnels, hence the name, which means "badger hound." They are known to be quite clingy, with a penchant for sitting on their owner's laps or following their paw-rents everywhere.
Dachshunds are highly intelligent while also being loyal and devoted companions, according to the American Kennel Club. Dachshunds are strong-willed and smart too, making them more difficult to train than easier-going breeds such as golden retrievers.
