Amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the annual Girl Scouts cookie sale has been moved online for 2021 in place of its conventional door-to-door and booth sale options.
The annual fundraising event offers a host of different cookies, including vegan options. Its latest is the new Toast-Yay!, a French toast–flavored cookie available in select areas, according to the Girl Scouts website.
"These girls are in a position to adapt very easily and we're taking their lead," Haleigh McGraw, communications and brand director at the Girl Scouts of Kentucky's Wilderness Road, told Kentucky's WBKO.
"They're basically teaching us how to do this. They are still honing those skills and really learning what it takes. This program is meant to get our girls prepared to lead us into the future and this is a step in the right direction.
"We want to make sure that people know that these girls are still out there. They still want to be reaching their goals. They have a lot they want to accomplish in this world and that's what we're here to do is help them get there," McGraw added.

How to buy Girl Scout cookies online
The cookies can be purchased using the official Girl Scout Cookie Finder app, available at the App Store for Apple devices and the Google Play Store for Android.
They can also be bought using the Digital Cookie platform, which is "like buying your cookies at a traditional cookie booth, but with an online twist," the website says.
"A Girl Scout you know may invite you to visit her personalized cookie website where you can place your order, pay using Visa Checkout or credit cards, have your order shipped or delivered by a Girl Scout, or even donate cookies to charity.
"Note that girls' participation in the digital platform will depend on their market area, and not all girls will participate," the website notes.

The annual Girl Scout cookie sale has been running for more than 100 years, dating back to the early 1900s.
"The sale of cookies as a way to finance troop activities began as early as 1917, five years after Juliette Gordon Low started Girl Scouts in the United States, when the Mistletoe Troop in Muskogee, Oklahoma, baked cookies and sold them in its high school cafeteria as a service project," according to the Girl Scouts website.
