Owner Praised For Genius Hack To Keep Golden Doodle Still During Car Rides

Car journeys with an excitable dog can be difficult, but one owner has gone viral on TikTok after sharing his genius hack to keep his golden doodle safely in one spot.

Whenever Evee gets into a car, she likes to use it as an opportunity to jump from seat to seat, and can hardly keep still for a moment. But thankfully, her owner has discovered a simple way to keep her still and make car journeys much less chaotic.

Now, any time Evee gets into the back of the car, she's safely strapped into a child's car seat and can't get out until her owner unbuckles her. The creative hack was shared in a TikTok video (@swintski), and since it was shared on February 4, it has already been viewed more than 444,300 times and gained over 57,900 likes.

Alongside the clip of Evee looking very pleased to be in the child's car seat, her owner explained that "she tries to run all over the place and go from seat to seat," so as a result he decided to "buckle her in for safety." The innovation has certainly made car rides easier for @swintski, as he doesn't have to worry that his golden doodle is constantly on the move.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) encourages owners to consider using a crate, booster seat or a seatbelt harness to prevent them from moving around too much inside the vehicle. Dogs may prefer facing forwards so they can see where they're going, which can help prevent motion sickness.

It's also important to keep the car at a cool and comfortable temperature, and some dogs may respond well to relaxing music played at a low volume. These are factors that can help settle even the most restless of dogs during a car journey, but the AKC suggests trying various options to see what works best for your pup.

After the video of Evee's new car routine went viral, social media users loved seeing her owner's creativity, and appreciated how content the pup seemed in her own seat. With hundreds of TikTok comments on the post, her owner responded to some, adding that Evee was "so happy" about being belted in.

"I cannot believe it. I've never buckled her before, and she literally loved it and didn't move. Wow. She's precious," he wrote on TikTok.

Among the 260 comments on the viral post, plenty of TikTok users lauded

One comment reads: "Seems like she's happy sitting there tho."

Another person responded: "Omg! The happiness she is proudly sitting there in her big girl seat!"

While another person wrote: "I just showed this to my dog as a warning."
