The Future Possibilities Index 2024

The Future Possibilities Index (FPI) 2024 presents

The Future Possibilities Index (FPI) 2024 presents a new way of thinking about business opportunities, social development, and environmental sustainability. The FPI asks: What are the economic and social possibilities of the next decade and how can countries take advantage of them? The study measures how 70 countries are leveraging six transformational trends that are re-shaping the world we live in. These six trends are giving rise to countless possibilities for the development of businesses, environmental sustainability and social well-being.

Economic growth alone cannot deliver the desired societal outcomes, so the FPI takes a holistic view of country preparedness to leverage these trends. The resulting measurement is intended to provide a tool to guide businesses in their investment decisions and governments in shaping their long-term strategies.

The 70 countries in the index account for more than 90% of global GDP. With the goal of measuring how these countries are placed to leverage six transformational trends, the index considers three main areas of readiness: government strategy and policy, industry strength, and each country's core capacity. The study is based on a combination of primary and secondary research, including a survey of more than 5,000 executives regarding their views on the future prospects of these trends for their sector and their country.
